Although the KWPN is not a 'fan' of coloureds, by grading Samber 20 years ago in 1979 it gave this horse credibility and therefore his stock were desirable from the word 'go' as
his offspring were the first fully registered coloured performance bred horses.
Since the approval of Samber, no other coloured stallion has gained entry into the KWPN (many have tried!).
In 1979 Samber passed his 100 day performance test, with a
10 for character and temperament
he gained an overall 160.2 points and an A Certificate.
Samber proved himself in competition in the early to mid eighties and reached Grand Prix level in dressage and Z level (BSJA Grade A) in showjumping. Samber's influence as an international performance sire:
Not just the stallion descendants of Samber, but also the mares and the geldings are proving themselves in all the Olympic disciplines. West Star, the international 4 star mount of Nina Melkonian is his best representative to date in so far as eventing is concerned, whilst Art Deco has reached Grand Prix dressage in the USA for Liz Hall and Silverwood Farm. Bim Bam Bino, born 1988, by Branco ox, out of Ange by Samber, represents Greece in international dressage, United Colours '91 by Samber out of a Rigoletto/Ramses mare won just under £1,000 in '97 in showjumping whilst Pintofields Iedante I, a KWPN Keur mare has won over 150 Dressage points in Great Britain. The above is just a few of the better known "Sambers" and there are many others competing at all levels throughout Europe and the USA.

The Hanoverian approvals commission must have followed God's inspiration when it approved a small strapping chestnut for a career as a stallion without having an inkling that he would once be the most important stallion of the Hanoverian breed. The stocky rather short Graf son however soon did justice to the trust that was placed in him.
Grande is found in the lineages of Levi, GG, Grande Prix Specail Effects, and R GPS.

Grande produced three of his most significant stallion sons: Graphit, Gralsritter and Glander. The vigorous Graphit went on to become a first class sire and produced the esteemed private stallions Gloster, Grannus, Grundstein I and Grundstein II, as well as the Warendorf state stallion General I as his most important sons. The solidly built and not quite true to type Gralsritter on the other hand, had a shadow existence for a long time and only attained world fame in old age through his outstanding showjumping progeny (i.a. the approved Grandeur / Thomas Frühmann; threefold winner of the German Showjumping Derby). Grande’s Achim period also resulted in the stallion Goldfalk, who attained high honours in Belgium and the international showjumper mares Graciosa / Peter Sünkel and Gute Sitte 2 / Eric Wauters, as well as the bay gelding Grande / Paul Schockemöhle. In 1967 Grande was restationed at Landesbrück, then like now, one of the leading stations in the region surrounding the Celle state studfarm. Grunewald, who similar to Graphit was for a long time a brilliant show trotter at the Celle stallion parades. Grunewald sired both dressage horses as well as showjumpers for the very highest demands, just like his sire Grande and his half-brother Graphit, whereby the
Olympic horse Grunox / Monica Theodorescu
was his best-known progeny in competition sport. A very important Grande son from the Landesbrück period was the chestnut Garibaldi II, who advanced to become a top sire, but unfortunately died at the age of 14. Grande produced a whole seies of top quality competition horses, including Grandson and Galapagos / both with G. Grillo, Gratulant 2 / Gerd Wiltfang, Santa Gruz / W. Bettinger and many more.
The most successful dressage horse world-wide, Gigolo. FRH / Isabel Werth is a Grande grandson
via the underrated Graditz.
In 1990, with the late great Gifted, a Hanoverian by Garibaldi II/Grande, Lavell was the highest placing American in Dressage at the World Equestrian Games.
Grande sired over thirty-three approved sons, fourty-six state premium mares, and several Olympic competitors.
And incredibly 1/3+ of the dressage horses at the Olypic Games in Atlanta were Grande relatives within 3 generations.

When Gotthard was approved in 1951, he seemed to be short framed, insignificant and stocky. As a mature stallion he had a real personality with a grand exterior significant and full of expression in every respect. Initially however, few breeders had any sympathy for this “ugly duckling”. At Hänigsen this grey stallion experienced the often quoted comet-like career jump from “dishwasher to millionaire”. His first great top quality horse was Gerd Wiltfang’s Goldika 3, who was out of a Mecklenburg mare without pedigree papers. Numerous others followed: Gonzales 3, Lutz Merkel, Galipolis, Gerd Wiltfang, Gonzales 18, Georg Ahlmann, Queensway Big Q, Harvey Smith, Goldfink 10, Gary Gillespie, Golden Gate 4, Otto Becker, Graf Sieno, Ulrich Meyer zu Bexten, Genius 2 and Goya 12, both Fritz Ligges, Girl 2, Bernd Kuwertz, Gerry 2, Jürgen Ernst, whose successes caused the Hängisen studfarm to become a pilgrimage centre for horse breeders.
Gotthard can be found in the linages of, Levi, GG, Grande Prix Special Effects, and R GPS.

Without Ramzes x, German warm blood breeding would not be what it is today. Next to the Hanoverian stallions Agram and Ferdinand, the Anglo-Arabian grey Ramzes x belongs to the triumvirate of German procreators of sports horses following the Second World War. He was homozygotic i.e. his progeny were all grays. The biological phenomenon of homozygoticness arises in the crossing of two heterozygous grays to a probability factor of 25 percent. Ramzes x was born in Poland in 1937 and in 1948 became the property of Clemens Freiherr von Nagel. He initially placed him at the disposal of the later trainer of the federal German showjumper riders Hans-Heinrich “Micky“ Brinkmann as a showjumper.
Ramzes can be found in the lineages of, Reuel, R GPS, Levi, GG, Grande Prix Gpecail Effects

It is through Sandro that the blood of Sacramento Song lives on and daily grows more influential in both dressage and jumping breeding.
Sandro is found in the linage of Grande Prix Special Effects.

|
In 1984 when Paul Schockemohle re-imported the then ten-year-old Holsteiner Sandro from Denmark, he wasn't counting on the fact that he had brought back the founder of a dresssage breeding line to Germany. Sandro was one of the only sons of the highly competitive Holsteiner approved, Thoroughbred Sacramento Song xx, a rarity on the German horse scene but very convincing in the show jumping sport. His qualification to breed was acquired under Franke Sloothaak, through successes in the highest level of show jumping. After many attempts in pairing up Sandro and Gephard, besides Silvio I and Silvio II, the 1988 Sandro Song emerged. Sandro Song (Sandro-Gephard) was bred and presented by Schockemohle at the stallion approvals in Oldenburg, where he became Young Stallion Champion 1990. Sandro Song's excellent jump is in accordance with his bloodlines and at the same time he shows fantastic movement and first class rideability for dressage. In 1995, Sandro Song made his debut with his first two sons, one being Sandro Hit. It is worth noting that Sandro Hit and dressage star Diamond HIt (Don Schufro- Donnerhall-Pik Bube) both have the same dam, Loretta, a Ramino/Welt As mare. Seemingly, the Schockemohle recipe for successfully creating horses with movement, suspension, conformation and of yes, jump, is worthy of emulation. To date Sandro presented 15 approved stallions, including Sandro Song, the Champion Young Stallion of Oldenburg 1990 and Main-Premium Champion of 1992. A remarkable feature of his sons are their good results at the stallion performance tests. Sandro caused a stir at the Federal Championships in Verden in 1990 when his son Subway achieved a high placing in the conformation show class. Later Subway was sold through 1990 Velhta Autumn sale to the dressage stables of M Otto-Crepin. In 1992 eight progeny qualified for the Federal Championships in Verden, several of whom were placed in the finals (Sandon, Sir Max, Sancerre, Sadenio, Salido). In the FN Yearbook Breeding of 1992 he is placed third of his age class as a sire of Show Jumpers. As a broodmare sire Sandro has also been exceptionally successful: Lasango (Kurt Reinacher), San Serai Funky Town (Björn Nagel), Lausano (René Tebbel), Risandro (Samantha McIntosh), Filias (Arnoldo Bologni), High Class (Royne Zettermann), Cappucino and Santa Fe (Marco Kutscher), Grand Soso (Markus Fuchs), Grand Soso II (Ulrik Kjaer) and High Stepper (Maria Gretzer) – all Grand Prix showjumpers, all out of daughters of Sandro.

Glitter Please was the perfect example of the desire to breed beautifully colored sporthorses without sacrificing quality, movement, or mind.
Glitter Please is found in the lineage of Grace.
|
 |
|
At 16.3h Glitter Please was the largest Palomino TB available. He possessed tremendous athletic ability and a heart of gold to match his coat. Even as a youngster he loved to show off, something that never hurts in the dressage ring. He competed successfully through Int. I, however a tragic reaction to an anesthetic during a simple dental procedure resulted in founder. His trainer, Gigi Nutter kept up his training on a off as his hoof allowed, depending on his soundness, it was his talent and her determination that allowed them to school there way up the levels to FEI. Glitter Please did well at Devon, Port Jervis Lexington, Prince George and other big shows. He won the Prix St. Georges memorial trophy at the West Chester Fairfield show under Judge Maria Gunther.
